July 9, 2026 \u2013 The College of Pharmacy at Dubai Medical University congratulates a multidisciplinary research team on the publication of their study in Pharmaceutics, a Q1-ranked scientific journal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project was led by Prof. Naglaa Shehab<\/strong> of the College of Pharmacy, in collaboration with Dr. Rania Shalaby<\/strong> of the College of Medicine, and undergraduate student researchers from the College of Pharmacy: Eslam Mahmoud Alrefaee, Fatimah Saad Altamimi, Hanaa Al-Shafea,<\/strong> and Naiba Khusrau<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The study evaluated the antihyperglycemic and antioxidant potential of two medicinal plants, Salacia reticulata and Caralluma tuberculata, as natural interventions for hyperglycemia. Effects were assessed in alloxan-induced diabetic female rats and benchmarked against metformin, a standard reference antidiabetic drug.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The findings underscore the therapeutic promise of these plant-based compounds and support continued phytochemical, pharmacological, and clinical research into their potential role in diabetes management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
