DMU Faculty Co-Authors New Book on 4D Printing in Healthcare
July 3, 2026, Dubai Medical University is pleased to announce that Prof. Sathvik Belagodu Sridhar, Professor and Head, Department of Pharmacy Practice at the College of Pharmacy, has co-authored the book 4D Printing in Healthcare: Smart Materials, Biofabrication and Medical Devices, published by the prestigious academic publisher De Gruyter, Germany.
The Interdisciplinary book provides a comprehensive overview of the emerging field of 4D printing and its applications in healthcare, with a focus on smart materials, biofabrication, tissue engineering, medical devices, dentistry, orthopedics, prosthetics, implants, and personalized drug delivery systems.
Unlike conventional 3D printing, 4D printing introduces the dimension of time, enabling printed structures and devices to respond, adapt, or transform under specific conditions. This innovative approach has significant potential to support the development of patient-specific, responsive, and advanced healthcare solutions.
