Biography

Dr. Preetha Jayasheela Shetty is a Professor of Genetics and Molecular Medicine and Program Director of the Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences (BBMS) Program at Dubai Medical University. She holds a Ph.D. in Genetics and Molecular Medicine from India and is a Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Science (U.K.), a Diplomat of the American Society of Regenerative Medicine (USA) and an Associate member of Board of Genetic Counselling, India. With over 20 years of teaching and research experience, Dr. Shetty has established expertise in cancer genetics, molecular diagnostics, and rare genetic disorders.

She has served in leading scientific institutions such as the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and the Centre for DNA Fingerprinting & Diagnostics, Hyderabad. Dr. Shetty has received prestigious honors including the Women Scientist Award from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, and Excellence in Teaching and Research Awards from a private medical university in the UAE. She has mentored Ph.D., postgraduate, and undergraduate scholars and contributed significantly to translational research in precision medicine.

She currently serves on the editorial board of the International Journal of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and is an Associate Member of the Board of Genetic Counseling in India.
