DMU’s Prof. Mirza Baig Speaks at The International Conference on “Avenues and Opportunities in Pharmaceutical Research and Practice

DMU’s Prof. Mirza Baig Speaks at The International Conference on “Avenues and Opportunities in Pharmaceutical Research and Practice
January 14, 2026

Professor Mirza R. Baig, Program Director for the Master of Clinical Pharmacy and Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the College of Pharmacy – Dubai Medical University (DMU), was invited as a speaker at an international conference organized by Indira University, Pune, India, held on 13–14 January 2026. During the conference, he delivered an insightful and forward-looking presentation on “Simulation Safety in Pharmacy Education: Enhancing the Role of the Clinical Pharmacist in the Patient Care Process.” His talk highlighted the critical importance of simulation-based education in preparing pharmacy graduates for safe, effective, and patient-centered clinical practice.

In addition to his keynote participation at the conference, Professor Baig was also invited to speak at several prestigious pharmacy institutions in Pune, including Modern College of Pharmacy, Bharati Vidyapeeth University, and Poona College of Pharmacy. These academic interactions provided an excellent platform for knowledge exchange and academic collaboration between institutions in India and the United Arab Emirates.

During his lectures, Professor Baig showcased how Dubai Medical University stands at the forefront of innovation in health professions education by integrating advanced simulation technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), and virtual reality (VR) into its pharmacy curriculum. He emphasized that DMU adopts a learner-centered, competency-based educational model, where students are trained extensively in high-fidelity simulated environments that closely replicate real clinical settings.

This progressive approach ensures that DMU pharmacy students develop strong clinical decision-making, communication, and patient safety skills before being deployed to professional experiential training sites. By allowing students to practice and refine their competencies in a controlled, risk-free environment, DMU significantly enhances patient safety while producing practice-ready clinical pharmacists.

Professor Baig’s presentations strongly reflected DMU’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and global best practices in pharmacy education, reinforcing the university’s reputation as a regional and international leader in simulation-based healthcare training.
